Please join the Exchange Club of Murphy at Country Burger in Murphy on December 9th, as guest speaker Aaron Miller talks to us about protecting your savings while planning for the future. Show up a bit before noon, grab a burger (or salad) and meet us in the back room.
Here's a little more information about Aaron Miller.
Aaron Miller's path to becoming an estate planning and elder law attorney began early. As a young child, while visiting his grandparents, his grandmother survived a near fatal heart attack. Shortly thereafter, she began to exhibit clear signs of Alzheimer's disease and had to move to a nursing home, where she stayed for the next ten years until her death ten years later. Aaron's grandfather footed the bill.
A few years later, Aaron's grandfather also needed to go to a nursing home, but since he had exhausted the couple's live savings caring for his wife, it fell to Aaron's family to pay his bills.
No one – not attorneys, financial advisors, social workers or nursing staff – had told Aaron's grandfather or his family about programs that were available to help pay for long term care.
After graduating from Baylor University School of Law, Aaron was an associate for two major Dallas law firms, and then started his own firm in 2007, where he practiced in all types of business-related litigation, representing clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
But over time, the grueling hours and antagonist nature of trial law took a toll on Aaron's marriage. With the memory of his own family's experience still fresh in his mind, Aaron refocused his practice in 2009, which is now devoted to helping families preserve their nest egg while they protect their futures and plan for the unexpected.
